Why a fab is not just a very clean room
A semiconductor fab combines the tightest cleanroom classes with vibration limits that protect lithography tools, make-up air balanced against toxic gas exhaust, and temperature stability measured in tenths of a degree. Get any of these wrong and wafer yield drops — and yield is where the money is.
As India builds out its semiconductor and display manufacturing capacity, the engineering bar for HVAC rises with it. This is not a market where comfort-cooling contractors can improvise.
Vibration-aware air handling
Lithography and inspection tools are exquisitely sensitive to floor vibration. Air handling units, fans and ductwork all transmit vibration, so the HVAC design has to consider structural decoupling, equipment location and duct routing from the earliest layout stage — not as an afterthought.
Make-up air and toxic exhaust
Fabs exhaust large volumes of toxic and corrosive gas through dedicated scrubbed systems. That exhaust has to be balanced with conditioned make-up air, or the building goes negative and process tools lose their controlled environment. The make-up air system is often one of the largest energy loads in the facility.
Redundancy for 24/7 uptime
